A dream realised…
Camping Le Dauphin was first created in 1970 by Claude and Marie-Jeanne Bessoles. As a young married couple, they decided to realise their dream beneath the sun of the Pyrénées Orientales: to create a campsite not far from the beach at Argeles sur Mer, in a huge meadow, planted with apricot trees.
Initially it was Claude’s passion for plants, his knowledge of building and aptitude for manual work which allowed him to build the site and its first infrastructures. From the beginning, his wife, Marie Jeanne, knew that they needed to listen to their guests, to be aware of their needs so they could always give satisfaction and enable people to enjoy their holidays. valueshave remained embedded ever since at Camping le Dauphin.
At the start, in the search for quality, the couple developed large, spacious pitches of at least 100 m² within a green landscaped setting. Before long, the FULL sign was regularly posted outside the campsite in the South of France in Argeles sur Mer.
In 1982, as ever, working towards improvement in quality, Claude decided to build “private sanitary facilities” with a sink, toilet and shower on a number of the campsite pitches. Quite unique its spirit and realisation, it put the comfort of guests at the forefront.
The campsite still benefits from these facilities today and remains the only campsite in Argelès to offer such an advantage: “97 pitches with private sanitary facilities” – a unique concept which attracts and sets it apart from the other numerous campsites available in Pyrenees Orientales.
In 1987, Claude continued improvements and developments to “space and comfort” at Le Dauphin, and it was this vision of space which led him to create not one, but 3 swimming pools: one semi Olympic pool, a learner pool and a children’s paddling pool to introduce little ones to the pleasures of water.
The style of rentable accommodation at the campsite was extended with fully equipped mobile homes and the services offered which grew in extent and variety (restaurant, tennis, mini golf, children’s play area, recreation room……)
The extension of a dream…
Aware of the dream, the work and the emotion involved, in 2002, management of Camping Le Dauphin passed over to his son Paul, who, in turn has invested his energies in this 4* campsite in Pyrénées Orientales (66) in the South of France, where he spent the whole of his childhood. He continues to fly the flag and has developed the infrastructure, new high quality services and has further enhanced the green spaces as well as the site as a whole.
To be seen as a real camping in 2007, Paul developed the ‘Aire des Festivités’ an outdoor stage area which, every summer is the setting for shows, cabarets, musical comedies and numerous campsite entertainments.
Client satisfaction and comfort remain at the heart of the aim for quality for our business.
Paul’s father had always dreamed of creating a new water park with a dolphin-shaped pool at the site and together, this dream was realised when it opened in summer 2011, with hydro massage, multi jets, swimming counter current, whirlpools, slides, massage fountains – 1300m² of well being and 6000m² of landscaped gardens.
That same summer, in the South of France, Paul became a father and Claude gained a grandson…
