KITCHEN GARDEN AT THE HEART OF THE CAMPSITE
The Dauphin focuses on offering you an ever more unique and exotic experience at the heart of nature. Recently, The OT Magazine (Official Campgrounds) came to visit us and we talked with them about the innovations at le Dauphin, including the creation of a real botanical garden, at the heart of our establishment/ organisation.
A PLAY AREA AT THE HEART OF NATURE
The play area of a campsite is an essential space for successful stays, and that’s why we wanted to turn this space into something special and unique, that could offer an experience both playful and educational for young and old … That’s how the Garden of Louis was born!
A cabin for children, multisport playground, tennis court, archery but also a real botanical trail and even a vegetable garden make up this 100% nature-dedicated space.
Paul, director of the Dauphin, has a passion for plants and botany and that led us to offer you this special area.
A BOTANICAL GARDEN WITH NEARLY 300 SPECIES!
When we thought about what we would offer to our visitors in terms of a botanical experience, we decided to show species both known to all, but also rarer species to create a real journey of discovery for our visitors. This is why the Garden of Louis now has more than 300 species as varied as oleander, vanilla Cayenne, walnut trees, Montpellier maple trees or trees with funnier names such as the handkerchief tree, caramel tree or clergy tree. For you, you will find also practical advice and information for planting species of interest to you and to ask Paul questions on the history and the life of the plants, trees and herbs.
In addition to large plants and trees many mediterranean herbs can be found in the garden such as sage, lavender, verbena, rosemary and rockrose. In the form of bushes or ground cover they offer a route though the Mediterranean flora for our customers who sometimes come from countries where these plants may not grow and who have never seen, smelt or touched these herbs.

Anxious to offer our visitors a more original experience than they could find elsewhere, we decided to give them access to a real kitchen garden where can be found tomatoes, aubergines, zucchini, salads, strawberries and many aromatic plants
The kitchen garden, in the heart of the Jardin de Louis, allows you, during your holidays, to be introduced to gardening and for the little ones to discover fruit and vegetables that they themselves have picked. A very special experience for children, who will remember it for a very long time.
Because Paul’s passion for botany has no limits he accompanies you every week on a guided tour of this botanical garden in Argeles Sur mer and gives you information and many tips on this real paradise.
